Selective Laser Sintering, or SLS, is a powder bed fusion process that builds strong parts with fine detail. It works without support structures, so you can add internal channels, organic curves, and lightweight lattices that other methods cannot achieve.
The mechanical performance of SLS nylon is close to injection-molded plastic. This makes the process useful for functional prototypes and for production runs in small or medium volumes. Aerospace, automotive, medical, and consumer brands depend on SLS every day.
The process is precise. A laser traces each layer while the chamber holds a steady temperature. Layer height, energy input, and chamber heat must stay inside narrow limits. Skilled technicians monitor these factors and adjust the recipe for every build.
SLS is not a simple “press print” solution. It needs careful calibration and regular validation. When that expertise is in place, the result is unmatched strength, repeatable accuracy, and true design freedom.
We specialize in Selective Laser Sintering that uses engineering grade nylon for working parts. Our main material is PA12 nylon. This nylon balances strength, accuracy, durability, and resistance to many chemicals. It works well for enclosures, mechanical parts, and prototypes that face heat or heavy use. PA12 nylon prints with a smooth surface and keeps its size, so it needs little finishing.
Some projects need stiffer parts or higher heat strength. For those jobs we offer two glass filled versions of PA12. The first version has 20% filled glass beads by weight. It makes parts stiffer while still absorbing some impact. This grade suits covers, housings, and medium load parts. The second version has 40% filled glass beads by weight. It gives maximum stiffness and highest load. Use it for structural parts, tools, and fixtures in harsh conditions.
We also print with TPC elastomer. TPC bends and absorbs shock yet keeps its shape. It works for snap fits, vibration mounts, and parts that face oil, sunlight, or rain. TPC is firmer than common TPU, so it stays strong while it flexes.
With PA12 nylon, glass filled PA12 nylon, and TPC we can meet many design needs. Our calibrated SLS process keeps every part precise and repeatable.
We offer a range of finishing processes to improve the appearance, surface quality, and function of SLS-printed parts. Every part is cleaned and de-powdered by default, but additional finishing options are available depending on aesthetic or performance requirements.
The standard finish includes full depowdering with no additional surface treatment. This is the default option for functional parts where appearance is not a priority. The result is a slightly grainy, matte surface typical of SLS-printed nylon.
For enhanced appearance, we offer black dyeing, which creates a deep, uniform finish without affecting part dimensions. Dyeing is ideal for visible parts, customer-facing prototypes, or branding requirements.
The shot peened finish is a mechanical surface treatment that smooths and densifies the part’s outer surface. It improves surface consistency, reduces porosity, and adds a subtle sheen. Shot peening is well-suited for production parts and functional prototypes where surface finish and wear resistance matter.
Vapor smoothing chemically smooths the exterior, reducing surface roughness and producing a polished, semi-gloss appearance. It also seals porous surfaces, making the part easier to clean. Vapor-smoothed parts are typically used for consumer-facing applications or environments where hygiene and visual appeal are important.
Lead time begins at 2 working days. Currently offered for PA12 Nylon only.
We allow up to 4 days or longer for larger orders and in case of any problems that we may have during the build process.
Priority is exactly the same as Standard where you join the front of the line and not the back.
Cost @ approximately 40% premium plus setup charge
Lead time begins at 5 working days for all SLS materials.
The build process and part quality is exactly the same as priority where you join the back of the line rather than the front.
We build everything as quickly as we can, so it is likely your order will ship before the estimated lead time although no lead time is guaranteed.
Cost @ standard pricing plus setup charge
For Standard finish there is no additional lead time.
For Dye services, additional lead time will begin at one day.
Up to four days may be added for additional Dyes, Shot Peened and Vapor Smoothing finish options.
